Hughes, Sir Samuel
(8 ene. 1853, Darlington, Canadá Oeste–24 ago. 1921, Lindsay, Ontario).

Militar y político canadiense. Entre 1885 y 1897 fue propietario y director de un diario de Ontario. En 1892 fue elegido miembro de la Cámara de los Comunes de Canadá, cargo que ocupó hasta 1921, excepto durante la guerra de Sudáfrica (1899–1902), en la cual prestó servicios como teniente coronel. En 1911 fue nombrado ministro de milicia y defensa de Canadá y, al iniciarse la primera guerra mundial, organizó, preparó y equipó a la Fuerza expedicionaria canadiense para prestar servicios en Europa. Recibió el título de caballero en 1915.
